    • He was born Frederick Alan "Rick" Moranis in a Jewish family in Toronto. In the 1970s, he worked as a disc jockey under the name Rick Allen on various radio stations in Toronto, including CFTR, CKFH, and CHUM-FM. Together with Ken Finklman, they created an excellent comedy radio show for the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation.

    Early Career

    Moranis' acting career began on television in 1977.

    He is best known as one of the "McKenzie Brothers" - a comedic duo of two true Canadians - created by him and Dave Thomas as a protest against the nationalization of Canadian television. Later, Moranis and Thomas were awarded the Order of Canada for their contribution to the country's culture.
